Jordan is a senior at South Granville High School. Thanks to Mr. Peter Ashford and the CTE Department, Jordan is also the first student to complete a pre-apprenticeship in Granville County Schools. Jordan currently works each day in the cafeteria at Mt. Energy Elementary. In an interview with Jordan, he states that he feels good about his work and enjoys working there. He likes having a job that allows him to be around other people. Jordan likes all aspects of his job, and states that his work is important because he wants the cafeteria to be clean for the children. He is hoping that this will turn into a permanent job after graduation from high school. Great job, Jordan! We are so proud of you! |
Congratulations, Lauryn Davis. Lauryn is a senior at Granville Early College High School. She is the recipient of the Dr. Martin D. Jenkins Award given by the National Association for Gifted Children. Lauryn is one of seven students selected to receive this prestigious award.

You and your family are important to us and may qualify or have qualified for the McKinney-Vento (MKV) program if you are experiencing housing transition challenges related to economic hardship or due to some other hardship. Please continue to read below for more information. Here is the link to the GCPS MKV webpage which includes a definition of families in transition, parent and student rights, MKV law, digital issues of our monthly newsletter, “Looking Forward”, and much more here.
We hope that as you continue to work through your housing challenges that you utilize the resources that you may have previously received. If you are in need of food, clothing, or school supplies, please reach out to your school counselor, school social worker, or the MKV Liaison (see contact information at the bottom of the MKV section). If you do not have transportation and are unable to pick up resources, please let us know.
Several emails have been sent out this school year to parents/guardians who participate in the MKV program. If you have been identified and have not received an email from the MKV Liaison this school year, please check your Infinite Campus (IC) parent portal contact information and confirm or update your email address, phone number, and your child(ren)’s physical and mailing addresses. Let your children’s school know if you have any challenges with updating your IC contact information.

- November was National Homelessness Awareness Month and November 16 - 22, 2025, was National Hunger & Homelessness Awareness Week.
The GCPS Liaison hosted a 5-County Homelessness Awareness Podcast on November 18th, during #HHWeek and invited Liaisons from our 5-County Collaborative to participate. We shared local and regional information that helps our students and families and shared how our collaborative approach is working to better help our families. Once editing takes place, the podcast will be posted on the GCPS Facebook page. An email will be sent out to you making you aware of the post.
