Air Quality Updates

Air Quality Update:

Granville County Public Schools is committed to the safety and well-being of its students and staff.  All school facilities are being tested on a regular basis for air quality by an independent, certified laboratory.  The results of these tests are posted to the website below and any additional action steps will be communicated to all members of the school community.


The most recent round of testing shows a "normal indoor fungal ecology for all areas tested except for one sample.  Follow-up testing and a visual inspection are underway and those results will also be shared as soon as they are available.  For your reference, the reports may be found at the link below.


An independent contractor cleaned the affected areas (500 wing) and air samples were again retested on August 20 and 23 of 2018.  The final results show a NORMAL indoor fungal ecology.  All areas of the school are cleared for students and staff.  The official reports are listed below:


LRC, and independent laboratory, conducted air quality tests at the school on July 30.  Elevated levels of spore counts were found in several classrooms in the "new" 500 wing of the school where students have not been in session this summer.  Cleaning and remediation crews have addressed the issue.  Retesting will occur prior to the start of the regular school year.  No students are allowed into the isolated areas impacted by this work.  The official report and lab tests are linked below.
